Why Replace Carbon Brushes?
Carbon brushes are a consumable component that wear down with regular use. Replace them when you notice sparking from the motor vents, reduced power output, or intermittent operation. Keeping spare brushes on hand minimizes downtime and protects your investment.
How often should I replace carbon brushes on my polisher?
Carbon brush lifespan varies based on usage intensity, but typical replacement intervals range from 40-100 hours of operation. Replace immediately if you notice sparking, power loss, or the machine shutting off unexpectedly.
What are the signs that carbon brushes need replacing?
Watch for visible sparking around the motor vents, reduced RPM or power, intermittent operation, unusual noise, or complete motor shutdown. The Sensei Plus model with automatic stop technology will shut off automatically when brushes are worn.
What is the automatic stop feature on Sensei Plus brushes?
Sensei Plus carbon brushes feature a spring running through the brush length. When the carbon wears down completely, the spring releases and interrupts the electrical current, automatically shutting off the tool to prevent motor damage.
How do I access the carbon brushes on my polisher?
Locate the threaded end caps on the motor housing (usually on opposite sides), unscrew them to reveal the brush assemblies, then carefully remove the worn brushes and springs before installing replacements.
